Broadband campaign site for Martin, Damerham, Rockbourne, and Whitsbury
Welcome to Broadband for Downlands!
Would you like to be able to work from home? Do you run a local business? Do you use the internet for shopping, studying, email or playing online games? Are your children always on the internet, tying up the phone line?!! Then you need broadband!
Broadband is a way of connecting to the internet at speeds at least 10 times faster than an ordinary modem. It also allows you to use the phone and the internet at the same time. BT is currently rolling out broadband technology to exchanges across the country but even though 80% of households are expected to have access to broadband by the end of 2003, this will not include Martin, Damerham, Rockbourne, or Whitsbury!!
We are looking at different ways of getting broadband in our villages, since it seems extremely unlikely that BT will provide broadband access in the foreseeable future. To know what kinds of solution might be suitable we need to know how many people are interested in broadband so please sign up to the campaign!
