What is broadband ... ?
It depends who you ask, and there are a lot of different opinions. For our purposes, what we mean when we say that we want broadband is an internet connection that is always on (so you don't have to wait for your computer to dial a phone number, connect to your service provider and so on) and that is at least 10 times faster than using a modem.

What are the advantages of broadband ... ?
It's about more than just speed, although that has a lot to do with it. Broadband makes it possible to do things on the internet that just aren't practical with a modem connection, for business and domestic users:
- Use your telephone and the internet at the same time
- Give your children access to the same facilities that they would have if they lived in a city or town (not just for homework - ask them about online gaming and ask if they would like to connect their PS2 or X-Box to broadband...)
- Listen to radio stations no matter where they are (so, if blues from Chicago or classical from Berlin is your passion, you can listen live);
- Download files at high speed, including movie trailers, music and anything else you can think of;
- Get your email as soon as it arrives in your mailbox, without having to wait to dial up and get it;
- Work from home by connecting to your company network;
- Maintain your own website, and add things like webcams and instant messaging to answer customer queries;
- And lots more...

I've already registered for broadband with BT, so why do I need to sign up here ... ?
It's important to register with BT as well but, realistically, BT is unlikely to provide broadband to Martin, Damerham, Rockbourne and Whitsbury in the foreseeable future. That means that if we want broadband, we need to use one of the other options. We need to know who is interested so we can decide which option is most likely to suit our needs depending on the number and type of users. So please sign up to the campaign now!

How much will it cost ... ?
That depends on how the broadband connection is provided (for more information click here). It is likely to be around £30 per month.
